Pixel 6 series wont be coming to India, Google explains why

Google’s latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, were unveiled just a few days ago. Both phones are now available for pre-order in eight countries and will begin shipping on October 28th. Regrettably, India is not included in the list of countries where the Pixel 6 series smartphones will be available, as expected. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will not be released in India in the near future, according to reports.

The non-availability of Google’s flagship phones in India is believed to be due to a “variety of factors,” including global supply chain issues.

A Google spokesperson said in a statement that they are not able to make their products available in all markets due to a variety of factors including global demand-supply issues. They further said that they are still committed to their current Pixel phones, and look forward to expanding their availability to more regions.

Pricing is another factor that Google may have taken into account when deciding not to launch flagships in India. Almost 90% of the Indian smartphone market is for devices under $300, a price range where Chinese manufacturers dominate and Google cannot compete.

This isn’t the first time the Pixel lineup has debuted outside of one of the world’s most populous smartphone markets. The company hasn’t released the flagship Pixel smartphone in India in a few years, except for the recent Pixel 4A in the country.

The Pixel 6 has a 6.1-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch 120Hz display. They have a primary sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. A 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom is included in the Pro version.

Google also introduced its own custom-designed chip called Tensor replacing Snapdragon

The Google Pixel 6 series is now available for pre-order in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, and Taiwan. As noted, they will be available for purchase from 28th October.
